The Farfars fartvind run opened in December 2025 and quickly became a favourite thanks to its generous width and gentle gradient. It also put more pressure on the lifts around Skidtorget. Sälen Express is the answer.
The lift starts at Skidtorget, Stöten's westernmost area. The top station sits just above the top of Dubbelliften but below the tree line, which keeps skiing as weather-proof as possible, even on days when the mountain shows its rougher side.
With the new lift, all three of Stöten's base areas have direct access to a chairlift, with skiing for the whole family: from green, gentle and flat to black, steep and challenging.
What does detachable mean?
At the stations the chair detaches from the cable and moves slowly, so you get on and off in your own time. Out on the line it grips the cable again and runs at full speed. The result is both more comfortable and faster than a fixed-grip chairlift.
The new chairlift means better accessibility, more comfort and even more joy on skis for our guests.

Stöten is investing SEK 120 million in its westernmost ski area, following last year's SEK 75 million. Skidtorget becomes a complete ski area, as welcoming for beginners as for those looking for challenging skiing.

Fifty years of joy on skis
Stöten turns 50 in 2026. What began as a small mountain resort for day trips is today one of Sweden's leading ski destinations.

Stöten is the northernmost ski resort in the Sälen mountains, in north-western Dalarna, Sweden. It has 24 lifts, 51 runs and the highest vertical drop in the Sälen mountains: 398 metres.
Over the years, the ski forum Freeride has named Stöten Sweden's best ski resort for families, and Älvan Sweden's best piste. Scandinavian Mountains Airport is fifteen minutes away.
